Privacy Policy
1. Overview
This policy explains what personal information Unmanually ("Unmanually," "we," "us") collects across unmanually.com (our website — guides, resources, services, newsletter, affiliate/referral programs) and the Unmanually application (our account-based builder/automation tool, together the "Services"), why we collect it, how it's used and shared, and the choices you have.
By using the Services you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the Services.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide directly
| Where | What we collect |
|---|---|
| Contact form | Name, email address, and the message you submit |
| Newsletter signup | Email address (and name, if you provide one) |
| Account creation (Unmanually app) | Name, email address, and authentication data, handled by our authentication provider, Clerk |
| Billing / subscriptions | Plan and subscription status. Payment card details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe — we do not receive or store full card numbers |
| App usage / content | Content you create, save, or configure within the Unmanually application (for example, saved builder projects), stored in our database so it persists across sessions |
| Affiliate / referral program | Name, email, and payout details if you join as an affiliate or referral partner |
Information collected automatically
- Usage & device data — pages visited, referring URL, browser type, device type, approximate location (derived from IP address), and timestamps, collected via Google Analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 4 below.
- Log data — standard web server and application logs (IP address, request details) generated by our hosting infrastructure.
Information from third parties
- Transaction and subscription status from Stripe.
- Authentication confirmation from Clerk (and any identity provider you use to sign in, e.g. Google).
3. How we use information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including your account and saved app data.
- To process subscriptions and payments.
- To respond to inquiries submitted via the contact form.
- To send the newsletter and other communications you've opted into, and administer the affiliate/referral program.
- To understand how the Services are used, in order to improve them (via aggregated analytics).
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Cookies & analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect standard internet log information and visitor behavior information. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking site-wide by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.
The Unmanually application uses strictly necessary cookies/local storage to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. These aren't optional — they're required for the app to function.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract, strictly to provide the Services — currently: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), our database/hosting providers (application data storage), Netlify (website and application hosting), and Google Analytics (usage analytics).
- Legal & safety — where required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Unmanually, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — if Unmanually is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy (or a materially similar one).
We do not share personal information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
6. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law (for example, billing records).
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your personal information ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Receive a portable copy of your data.
- Withdraw consent (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the link in every email).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information — including encryption in transit, access-controlled storage, and reliance on security-vetted third-party providers (Stripe and Clerk are both PCI-DSS/SOC 2-aligned providers) for sensitive data like payment and authentication credentials. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's privacy
The Services are intended for businesses and individuals aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. International users
Unmanually is based in the United States, and information we collect is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above; for significant changes we'll provide more prominent notice (for example, via email to registered users).
